The chosen supplier for the new Finance and Buying system is Agresso. The company is based in Bristol.
The Agresso product is a Client-Server Business Management System, which consists of a series of integrated modules, covering Financial Management and Control, Project Costings and Billing and Logistics. It has been designed to provide an intuitive user interface with ease of use familiar to users of Windows desktop applications. Currently, the Agresso product has been installed in 15 partner Universities in the U.K., and there is a very active User-Group forum.
For the implementation of the new system, the University has adopted Prince2 as the formal project management methodology
The new system will be implemented in 2 stages.
Stage 1
(referred to as 'core financials')
This will be available to Finance staff
1st February 2001.
Stage 2
Will see a 'roll-out' of the system over the following twelve months to University departments and will include the Purchasing module (Logistics).
As with NT Rollout--the new Finance system will be deployed throughout the University, by departments and Services, over a period of time. To ensure full and effective training is provided and support is available .
The time scales and order of deployment will be decided at a later date.
