Prerequisites
There are no requirements to take the Foundation exam. To take the Practitioner exam, you must first pass the PRINCE2 Portfolio Management Foundation certification.

Our PRINCE2 Portfolio Management Foundation and Practitioner training teaches you how to align project investments with business objectives, prioritise initiatives, and manage resources effectively to deliver measurable value across portfolios.
What format do the exams take and what are the pass marks?
The PRINCE2 Portfolio Management Foundation exam is a closed book, multiple-choice assessment lasting 40 minutes with 50 questions. The pass mark is 50% (25 correct answers).
The Practitioner exam uses an objective testing format. It lasts three hours, with four questions worth 20 marks each (80 in total). The pass mark is 50% (40 marks or more).
Do the PRINCE2 Portfolio Management Foundation and Practitioner certifications expire?
Yes. Both qualifications are valid for three years from the award date. To stay current, you must recertify. PeopleCert offers several routes to renewal, which you can review on their website.
How long does the Foundation and Practitioner course take?
You can choose from three study routes. Classroom and live virtual classroom courses run over five days, Monday to Friday. The blended option gives you 12 months’ access to Foundation eLearning (around 12 hours of study) followed by a two-day Practitioner classroom or virtual course.
In all cases, you’ll have 12 months from purchase to complete both exams. Foundation must be passed before progressing to Practitioner.
Do I get separate certificates for PRINCE2 Portfolio Management Foundation and Practitioner?
Yes. You’ll receive one certificate for Foundation and another for Practitioner, both issued by PeopleCert.
