AXELOS (the PRINCE2 accrediting body) has officially changed the name of ‘PRINCE2 2017’ to ‘PRINCE2 6th edition’. The qualification itself has not changed, and still conforms to the 2017 syllabus.

Important : We have been notified by Peoplecert that PRINCE2 6th Edition Foundation and Practitioner examinations will no longer be available for purchase from the 30th June 2024 this includes any requests for extensions to an exam voucher, Take2 and resits. Resits are classified as a new exam purchase therefore if you fail your exam after the 30th June 2024 you will be unable to purchase another 6th Edition exam voucher. All exam vouchers (including Take2) acquired before the 30th June 2024 must be consumed by the designated expiration date or by December 30, 2024, whichever comes first.

About the course

ILX Group’s accredited PRINCE2 Foundation & Practitioner virtual course contains all the required training and materials to fully prepare you for the Foundation & Practitioner examinations, in just five days. The PRINCE2 Foundation introduces you to the PRINCE2 method whilst the Practitioner teaches you to apply and tailor PRINCE2 to the running and managing of a project. This course conforms to the 6th Edition syllabus.

What is virtual classroom training?

ILX’s virtual instructor-led training combines the personal teaching experience of a classroom, with the ease and flexibility of a virtual environment. Our virtual courses are interactive and engaging, allowing participants to communicate with both the instructor and each other in a collaborative manner.

Duration

This is an intensive two-day course that prepares you for the PRINCE2 Practitioner examination. The training is conducted via a virtual training environment. You need to ensure that you can satisfy the technical requirements that can be found on our website.

By the end of the PRINCE2 Practitioner virtual course you should be able to:

  • Apply the PRINCE2 principles in context
  • Apply and tailor relevant aspects of PRINCE2 themes in context
  • Apply and tailor relevant aspects of PRINCE2 processes in context

This course follows the 6th Edition syllabus and provides delegates with the following:

  • ILX Group’s unique ‘Preparing for the PRINCE2 Practitioner examination’ workbook, providing sample practitioner examination papers and marking guidelines
  • A review of the entire method, consolidating understanding and addressing any areas of concern
  • Individual scenario based exercises, designed to focus candidates on the application of the PRINCE2 method

This is an intensive two-day course that includes the following:

  • All accompanying ILX course material (digital)
  • Online pre-course
  • The cost of the PRINCE2 Practitioner examination (Exam must be taken online via remote proctor)

Materials

Digital ILX course materials: These will be accessible via the ILX portal. Full instructions with a link to the portal will be issued within 48 hours of your confirmed booking.The course materials will be provided in a PDF format and available for download. You will need to download and save the materials to your device, so that you can annotate them during the training course.

Hardcopy official manual: If you decide to purchase the official manual as an optional extra your manual will be shipped to your chosen address within 48 hours of purchase.

Hardcopy PRINCE2 process map: If you decide to purchase the hardcopy PRINCE2 process map as an optional extra it will be shipped to your chosen address within 48 hours of purchase.

Exams are taken online via remote proctor. You will be sent an email invitation approximately two working days prior to course commencement to register on the Peoplecert portal. Once registered you will be able to book your online exam at a date and time of your choice. You are responsible for booking your own exam. Please note: We would like to inform you that during open book exams candidates can use only official hard copy books or softcopy e-books available only through VitalSource on a secondary device. 

Recertification: This certification has a renew within three years of the award date to remain current. There are multiple ways to recertify, more information regarding the options can be found here.

Exam format

The format of the exam is as follows:

  • 150 minute exam duration
  • 68 questions 
  • 38/68 required to pass = 55% pass mark
  • Open book (official PRINCE2 manual only)

  • It is also relevant to other key staff involved in the design, development and delivery of projects, including:
    • Project board members (e.g. senior responsible owners)

Pre-requisites

In order to sit the PRINCE2 Practitioner examination you must provide proof of having passed one of the following:

  • PRINCE2 Foundation (5th Edition or 6th Edition version)
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)®
  • Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)®
  • IPMA Level A (Certified Projects Director)
  • IPMA Level B® (Certified Senior Project Manager)
  • IPMA Level C® (Certified Project Manager)
  • IPMA Level D® (Certified Project Management Associate)

Only current certifications will qualify as a pre-requisite.

Individual IPMA chapters have local interpretations of these certificates, for example:

  • In the United Kingdom the Association for Project Management (APM) is the IPMA chapter; visit www.apm.org.uk. The APM Level D certification is their APM (P) certificate
  • In the USA the American Society for the Advancement of Project Management is the IPMA chapter; visit https://www.ipma-usa.org/. The ASAPM Level D certificate is their Certified Project Management Associate

This is an intensive course that requires you to complete mandatory online pre-course study, which is designed to take approximately six to eight hours to complete. Full instructions with a link to the online pre-course will be issued within 48 hours of your confirmed booking. Review the technical requirements for the online learning here. Which software does ILX use to run its virtual classroom?

ILX uses Zoom to deliver our virtual classrooms. You will be provided with a link to the event two weeks prior to course commencement within your joining instructions. When you click on the link, Zoom will load on your browser.

Can I run a system check in advance of my course?

Do I need to use a headset?

How will I take my exam?

You will take your exam online via remote proctor.

When will I take my exams?

ILX will arrange for an exam voucher to be issued to you two weeks prior to course commencement. You then have a choice you can either:

  • Book a suitable time after your virtual classroom event has finished to undertake your exam(s)
OR
  • We currently allocate exam time within the virtual classroom event. So that you can book directly, we will advise you of recommended exam timings as part of the candidate guidance -- this is issued three weeks prior to course commencement

Who books my exam(s)?

You book your own exam at a date and time convenient to you. We appreciate some delegates want additional study time after the virtual classroom whereas others want to take their exams at the end of the event. This allows you to make your own decision and provides flexibility as to what works for you as an individual.

When will I receive my exam results?

For web-based exams, results are immediate, subject to final verification from the Examination Institute.
